Moving through the outer edges of the shadow, these shapes seem to become more consistent. This thin plane borders near the omni-plane. I feel like I'm not quite walking. All I see is my shadow, which blends among shadows. The evening draws near - I notice because I have become long and stretched out.
Far from me is the shadow of a tree drawn clear in a silhouette. I am behind myself in shadow. The sun must be behind this tree. Coming closer to the tree I feel my shadow fade away. Under this tree's darkness I myself become one with the tree and its shade. Hidden, I let myself enter the true-night of the shadow. Where all becomes one, but for the moon in the distance.
I glance to my side, and the eyes of a predator, glowing cold, gives it away. Thankfully, it cannot see me. I shiver, but eventually the hunter slides off. I see the reflection of the moon in the eyes of its prey. Dead.
The plane of shadow is a cold place.
I have come to discover the nature of life and death here is different from that of the omni-plane.
When something is born, its shadow awakens. It gains a shadow. When something dies, it fades into the light. Shadow and darkness is what rules, governs and is this world. Its like looking at a photo which has been under-exposed: dark grey and black, with only a few high-lights here and there.
It is quite raw, and sickening. Any emotionally sensitive or morally aware creature would have trouble in this realm. I say this because when a hunting shade eats its prey, the prey will be visible until its body's death and digestion. Although, as a studier of science, I find it most thrilling to be able to observe the process to a certain extent of ingestion and digestion.
The prey enters the hunter's mouth, is torn up, and then swallowed. Its pieces are able to be seen in the body as they decompose and die.
I am still not sure how it is that living this lose their shadow, whilst dead things don't have them. It is nigh-on impossible to see rocks, or anything non-living in this world. I have stubbed my toe numerous times. I still have not yet figured out which secondary place is connected which allows the locals of this plane to sense un-see-able objects.
Perhaps it is that of the vibration place? Or maybe the plane of scent. I cannot tell. Even perhaps the plane of sound?
I do hear thin wavering and inconsistent noises.
Clearly it is mildly-connected to the plane of sound, perhaps via vibration. This would make sense, but I haven't found a rift in the vocals yet.
I am going to return to omni-plane, as I cannot see much here, and I must report my findings on shadow.
